Dry Cupping

During a cupping treatment a plastic or glass cup is placed on the skin, then the air inside the cup is suctioned or vacuumed out. The cups can be used at rest or with movement and application time usually ranges from five to 10 minutes.

If you have been watching the Olympics you will have seen a few athletes with purple marks on them. That is because cupping has become an increasingly popular treatment modality, it increases blood circulation at the point of the injury. The increased circulation reduces tension and spasms, and can promote cell repair through improved blood flow.

The benefits are:

• Treats Adhesions (tension & trigger points / muscle knots)
• Relaxes the nervous system
• Relieves scar tissue
• Supports detoxification
• Increases circulation

The marks from the cupping can last from 2-10 days, but then fade away.
